Packing Dress Pants and Dress Shirts?

Question: What is the best way to pack dress pants and dress shirts in a suitcase that will prevent them from getting wrinkled? I do not want to have to bring a garment bag.

Answer: I don't know about pants because I always take skirts for dressed-up occasions, but with shirts, fold them first from top to bottom (collar to waist), then repeat again. After that, you can fold the sleeves in. This way, when you hang the shirt up, the wrinkles fall out easily. This way most closely duplicates the way a folding garment bag does. Also, put the clothes you are most worried about on top - not necessarily the top of the suitcase as you load it, but what will be the top as you are rolling it along. I have found that the clothes I lay on the top as I am packing and the suitcase is laying open usually end up sliding down and getting crushed as soon as I up-end the suitcase to move it. Hope this helps.
